November 9, 2018 is release day for How to Kennel a Killer, book 2 in the Steely & Cuff mysteries! To celebrate, I've decided to add a blog to my website. Knowing me, posting will be erratic. It's how I roll. My priorities are focused on writing the next installment of the Steely & Cuff mystery series.
December marks the 1st book birthday for book 1, How to Leash a Thief! I believe a birthday celebration is in order. Stay tuned for details.
For those of you who are not familiar with my writing journey, here's some insight...
How to Leash a Thief took (30-days to draft / NaNoWriMo project), 5 years to write, edit, and publish. How to Kennel a Killer took 2 months to write and 8 months to edit and publish. Why the huge difference in timing? The writing of Thief occurred in a transitional time in my life and my writing career. I actually put the book down for nearly 2 years. At the same time, I was also attempting to write picture books and had some, well, let's say interesting things happen in my writing career that not only taught me a few valuable lessons, but also set me on a path to publication. Once I accepted I wasn't a children's picture book writer, my goals became super clear. I wanted to pursue writing murder mysteries. In 2016, I picked Thief back up and began the process of rewriting, beta testing, sending it out to an editor, rewriting, finding a cover artist, polishing, and finally in late 2017, publishing. It's been a fun ride and I'm looking forward to the rest of my writing journey.
Peace, love, & purrs,
