Writing southern mysteries from somewhere in Texas, I love launching my heroines into precarious, wild, and sometimes impossible situations for the pure kick of seeing them work their magic. Some may consider pushing my characters into a deep pit filled with creepy-crawlies and dropping their rope ladder in along with them slightly sadistic. I see it as fantastic fiction.
I write best listening to coffeeshop chatter, drinking gallons of coffee, snacking on Goldfish, dark chocolate, and dill pickles. And in case you're curious, I get my best story ideas outside walking, reading or listening to the news, and I work out plot issues at the most inconvenient times, i.e. driving, cooking, exercising, and trying to relax.
Aside from writing mysteries, I'm a mom of two daughters, a wife, an artist, a thrift store junky, and a fur mama to a rescue Chihuahua mix, a neurotic German Shepherd, two rescue kitties, and a "Lolli" to three grand-pups who recently moved back in our house, along with our oldest daughter as she loves to say, "I'm baaacckk!" After three quiet years of empty-nesting, it's a bit like hearing Jack Nicholson grinning while he growls his infamous line in the movie The Shining, "Here's Johnny!"
