If I were a hat, I’d be hand-crafted from 100% Irish wool in houndstooth tweed, a wide-brimmed fedora with a velvet band in a rich, chocolate brown, and trimmed with a yellow rose, an oak twig of acorns, and an exotic peacock feather. Oh, what a hat I’d be! Born in Chicago with deep Irish roots (96%), I currently hang my unique hat deep in the heart of Texas.* Over the years, I’ve had a hatful of occupations, everything from working in a karaoke bar in Okinawa, Japan to a children’s library, and thirty+ others in between.* Since 1990, my best friend and I can proudly say, “I still do.” I’m “mama” to two amazing daughters. I spoil our dogs & cats rotten, and according to my kids, my adopted Chihuahua is the “favorite child.” I’m a self-proclaimed Chardonnay snob, but also known to sneak a wee bit of the husband’s Irish whiskey and create fruity concoctions. When I’m not writing, I’m thrifting for funky hats, and when I’m not doing either, my “Gigi” heart belongs to three amazing grandkids.
